Woow I have a problem ! Currently there were only 2 artists I liked very much because of their realistic representation ! ( I reviewed them here )
Sidenote : even side by side on the same subject it is very difficult to choose between Lee or Turner
But I’m getting behind on the current artist ! So the point is, that I have to rethink about my previous choice !! Because when I look at the art of Ed Benes ( from Brazil ), I have to say that it can compete with the other 2 !!
He mostly likes to draw pinups, but his male characters like Batman and Superman rock !! For new features, just keep track of his personal blog and if you want to have an overview of what he has done so far just surf here, here or here.
My favorites :

Most people who know me, know that I play Magic the Gathering. I already posted about the fine art that’s featured on these cards… and again this post will be about one of the many artists that produce great images for this lovely game.
This time the artist is called John Avon ( again from the UK ) and he is best know for his landscape features in the Magic the Gathering game. Swamps, mountains, forests, islands and plains, they all just look so real that they seem like photographs instead of drawings ( he uses digital tools to make his art ).
I like them very much ! Would love to own a digital copy of one of his creations ! Definitely on my wishlist… just check out his gallery here !
Some of my favorites ( damn that swamp is awesome ) :

Again I’ve found a great artist on the World Wide Web ! His name is Matt Dixon, just take a quick look at his gallery online to be amazed.
I love the creatures, it just seems all fun and games to him drawing these things. I like the cartoon style they have.
He also does artwork for fantasy games, read about it in this interview !
Here some samples :

Here is a great concept !
Find the greatest movies of all time, check if their representing poster had a fantastic impact and just remodel them in 3D !!!
Damn why hasn’t this been done before ? ( Or am I missing something )
Todd McFarlane toys has come up with this great idea and I’m all for it ! Damn that Alien poster does look super.
Also available : Nightmare on elmstreet, Friday the 13th, Jaws and Alien

There are several comic books I like and there are several series I follow… but one just keeps coming back and has a great impact on my comic reference judgment ! The comic I’m talking about is Spawn created by the little genius Todd McFarlane.
So why is it that I like this comic more then the others ? Well mostly because of the artist that has penciled most of the issues : Greg Capullo. I like his dark, spiky look very much ! The perfect mood setting for Spawn.
He doesn’t pencil Spawn anymore ( stopped around issue 106 I think, but kept doing the covers till issue 150 ), but the main style was set… Even Angel Medina’s work after the takeover from issue 106 looked very much the same ! But of course Angel had already earned his marks with KISS Psycho Circus, a great artist indeed.
One other side project by Greg is The Creech, cyborg war machine. Also very enjoyable.
But enough talk, here are some examples :

The Belgium department of our Wing Tsjun organisation has some issues… They are not critical, but still we have to have a sit down with the key members to discuss the planning.
I think every organisation has to rethink their strategy once and a while. So we came to a point that a new course should be taken. It will not be easy to get all the items on the agenda sorted out and maybe some things will not change at all !
But I’m eager to get started, it would mean more responsibility for me inside the organisation and frankly I think this is for the best ;).
Some points to discuss :
- Structure in the organisation
- Administration management
- Membership gathering and structuring
- Digital revolution enhancement

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like a CMS, but sometimes they are a pain in the b*** !!!!
Currently I’m doing some maintenance on our WingTsjun website, but I got so frustrated that I kept on doing other stuff online ( like reading blogs ) to get my head clear !
Damn I just don’t like working with that stupid Typo 3 system. I don’t know if there are any different versions, but our version is just not intuitive to work with !
Stupid example: why don’t you use a simple text editor to put in text ? No you have to separate each ‘logical part’ on one page in a ‘text part’ inside typo 3 ! So instead of just typing and if needed starting a new paragraph, you have to type a title, your text and add links for each paragraph of your text… so editing the text on several places means doing several manual actions of opening and selecting the right ‘text parts’ before you can reach the text itself !!!
DAMN frustrating ! That’s why I like the simpel design of the Windows Live Writer I’m now using to blog with…
And some people just spot the simple designs of Typo 3 right away ;).

Belgium is not only famous for it’s beer and chocolate ! No, more things can be found in our country that is worth looking at !!
So in my small quest to bring you the best eye candy, let me promote a small Belgian creative studio : Eugene and Louise. I’ve just met them in person through something completely differently then art related, and got a look at their website ! But it seems I’ve seen their work already ‘in the wild’ 🙂 !!
Not only do they produce nice renderings, it seems they are involved in a lot of side projects too !!

Had a small taste dispute with Nicodemus today, it was small because he had to catch his evening car ride home ! But if he had the time, no doubt we would still be arguing about the differences of taste :).
The argue was about the fine looks of the other species, females ! My type is the more ‘sporty, young, fresh’ kind, preferably with short hair… the colour of the hair doesn’t matter so much.
But to prove my point here a small overview and let me throw this around as a stick to Nicodemus 😉 !

Ok this post is going to be a bit odd… it involves soccer !!
Not that I’m that big of a fan of the game, although I played it myself for most of my current life, but this little thing just has me hooked.
There is a social network game online, called Hattrick and it is created around the most popular sport in the world soccer. The objective is quit straightforward : manage your own team !
The setup is simple, first you create a free account on Hattrick and after a day you get a team assigned ! You’ll be placed in a small competition and will be able to play against the other teams inside your competition.
Sounds easy and it is, but what strikes my is the level of detail you have at your disposal to manage all kinds of settings ! A small list of things to do :
- Assign a coach
- Choose training schemas
- Hire other staff ( like a doctor )
- Buy and sell players at a special eBay like trading place
- Manage the players on the field, choose the right positions and follow their progress
- Choose different setup formats for each league game
- Expand your home stadium
And the list just goes on and on ! After reading this you’ll think it to be overwhelming and impossible to manage, but it really is just easy…
What I find even more extraordinary is the fact that everything just runs very smooth and seems to be programmed with the old ASP technology ! You can even follow the games in real time, through text messaging !
Damn I wish I could create something like that !!
